Can we make water from air???
A Canadian company says the answer ‘yes’,we could make water from air.Recently they developed a water generator to produce water from atmosphere. In their view water is the next commodity that humans have to start production of their own owing to its scarcity.Yes thats our near future, as we are depriving of good source of fuels and electricity now, soon we will set search on water…Lets look how this company could work out in the present scenario.
This device so called atmospheric water generator absorbs water vapour from the atmosphere condense it and sterile it so that we could use it for drinking and other house hold purposes. Then the next question arise how much we could produce?and what is the case of a less humid area? the company has its answers. The Element Four’s (company) innovation is a 300 watt water generator and could produce up to 12 liters of drinking water per day enough for a typical western life. And the approximate cost is about 5 to 6 cents per liter considering the cost of electricity up there.
To answer the question about humidity we have to analyse some of the technical features of this device.Richard Weisback the chief technology officer of the company says it has two parts the first one consist of some sensors to measure the humidity, temperature, pressure etc of a region and gives the date to a micro controller and makes this device adaptable to all environment, the second part the micro controller which finely tunes the machines with atmosphere and manipulate the volume of air flow and refrigrent required to suite its sourrounding. The sterlization of condensing coil as well as water is done with help of ultraviolet lamps that could kill bacterias and other bugs.
The failure of water generators in past was the large consumption of power at startup may resulting in a blackout in weak grids. But the present system absorbs power in stages so that no surge is produced. In the near future we may also use water makers to drink water…
